We love providing dental care for children, and making sure to help them have beautiful, healthy teeth as soon as their first set of primary teeth start poking up.
Our entire paediatric-focused dentistry team is dedicated to creating a friendly, supportive, and fun environment for our young patients, so they always have a positive experience that prevents anxiety and has them looking forward to their next visit.
Parents are always welcome to be in the examination room with their child to increase their comfort and ask questions about:
We’ll also be sure to teach your child about proper oral hygiene habits that will bring them a lifetime of beautiful smiles!
Even primary teeth are susceptible to tooth decay as soon as they appear. Because primary teeth have less enamel, small cavities can become problematic quickly. Regular check-ups can help catch cavities early to maintain your child’s oral health.
In most cases, we recommend bringing your child in for their first dental visit between 2 and 2.5 years old. At this age, kids will be able to hold their mouth open independently, answer questions on their own, and begin to form a trusted relationship with their dentist, which will make future visits much easier.
Your child (and you!) may be feeling anxious before their first visit, so here are a few fun, caring suggestions to help relieve their apprehension:– Play dentist before the visit, taking turns examining one another’s teeth– If you have older children, bring your younger child to the family appointments so the environment will be familiar to them– Allow your child to bring a favourite toy or stuffed animal with them to increase their comfort
Your child’s dentist or dental hygienist will check their teeth for any signs of decay, examine your child’s bite, and inspect the gums, jaw, and oral tissues for potential problems. We may also clean your child’s teeth and gums.Be sure to book your child’s next appointment before leaving the office. Keeping a regular habit of regular dental checkups will build the relationship between your child and the dentist, reduce anxieties, and protect your child’s smile for years to come.
